SUSTAINING THE FUTURE THROUGH COMPOSITE ARTWORKS

(Reflections on the dialogue between digital and material processes)

For the exhibition “Sostenere il Futuro”, I chose to present composite works, where the same theme is explored through both digital and oil painting techniques.
This decision arose from a simple yet urgent question: how can artistic thought remain sustainable in the digital age?

In my practice, the digital process allows for immediacy — a flow of intuition, movement, and transformation that mirrors the rapid rhythm of contemporary perception.
Oil painting, by contrast, reintroduces time, resistance, and gravity.
Together, they form a cycle: the digital image becomes a space of exploration, while the physical painting restores presence and silence.

By translating one medium into another, I try to sustain thought itself — to prevent it from being consumed by speed or immobilized by nostalgia.
The coexistence of these languages becomes a metaphor for balance: the digital as a space of possibility, and the material as a space of remembrance.

Within the framework of Sostenere il Futuro, this dialogue between hand and machine reflects a broader vision of cultural sustainability — the capacity to maintain depth, awareness, and emotional resonance while embracing technological transformation.

In this sense, sustaining the future means not only protecting the environment, but also preserving the vitality of human perception — the subtle rhythm that connects mind, matter, and image.
